Adobe Brings Agentic AI to Anthropic's Claude
Adobe announced a partnership with AI developer Anthropic on Wednesday, integrating its Firefly creative assistant into Claude. The move marks Claude's first major expansion into creative work, moving beyond its established strengths in coding and enterprise applications.
Firefly is Adobe's hub for AI-powered creative tasks across Creative Cloud apps including Photoshop, Acrobat, and Premiere Pro. The new agentic assistant can perform editing work with minimal human direction-uploading a batch of photos and automatically adjusting lighting and cropping, for example.
How agentic AI changes creative work
Agentic tools operate differently from generative AI. Instead of producing new content from prompts, they handle repetitive editing tasks independently. Adobe's approach treats this as a way to automate non-generative work-the kind of routine adjustments that consume production time.
Adobe introduced earlier AI assistants in Photoshop and Adobe Express in October. This partnership extends that capability to users working in Claude, letting them conceptualize projects in the chat interface and execute them directly through Firefly.
What's available now and coming soon
The Firefly assistant enters public beta later this month. Adobe will release details about the Claude connector in coming weeks, including its availability date.
Several Firefly updates are available immediately:
- The video editor now includes better audio, advanced coloring options, and expanded Adobe Stock integrations
- The image editing suite receives upgrades
- Kling 3.0 and 3.0 Omni models join 30-plus other outside AI models accessible through Firefly
Paul Smith, Anthropic's chief commercial officer, said the partnership explores "new ways to help creators conceptualize a project in Claude and reach straight into Adobe Firefly to execute it."
