AI Adoption Surges in Software Development as Leaders Prioritize Productivity, Ethics, and Job Growth
AI adoption in software development grows, with 73% of tech leaders prioritizing it in 2025. Concerns about code errors, security, and ethics remain key challenges.

AI Takes Center Stage in Software Development for 2025
According to the latest 2025 Reveal Software Development Challenges Survey by Infragistics, 73% of technology leaders have set expanding AI use as their top priority this year. The momentum is clear: 75% of organizations already used AI in software creation in 2024, and half of those yet to adopt it plan to do so in 2025.
Task automation leads as the main driver for AI adoption, with 55% of respondents citing it as key to boosting productivity. Other popular applications include:
- Optimizing code (48%)
- Improving diagnostics (46%)
- Testing software (46%)
- Fixing coding errors (43%)
- Eliminating repetitive or administrative tasks (43%)
- Creating personalized customer experiences (41%)
- Reducing development time and addressing limited resources (28%)
Balancing AI Integration with Safety Measures
While AI adoption grows, concerns remain significant. Over a third (37%) of tech leaders worry about errors and bugs in AI-generated code that could undermine software reliability. An equal percentage flagged potential security vulnerabilities, highlighting the need for strong safeguards as AI is integrated into critical systems.
Casey Ciniello, Senior Product Manager at Infragistics, points out that AI accelerates many parts of the software lifecycle, from code generation to deployment. But ensuring accuracy, data integrity, and security requires governance frameworks and technical protections to avoid unintended risks.
Data privacy is the top concern for 78% of respondents, followed by transparency (57%) and data safety (55%). To address these, most companies have introduced ethical AI guidelines (60%), formal privacy policies (59%), and protections for sensitive data (54%).
Ethical Challenges: Bias, Privacy, and Untested AI
The survey highlights growing ethical concerns in AI use. Privacy violations (38%), bias in AI models (37%), and deploying AI without secure testing (36%) rank among the most urgent issues. These risks threaten user trust and can cause legal or reputational damage.
As AI tools become more embedded in development, organizations must adopt governance and risk mitigation strategies. Without strong ethics and rigorous testing, AI’s potential could backfire. For further context, see the 2025 Vatican News article on AI ethics.
AI Creates Jobs Rather Than Eliminating Them
Contrary to fears about AI-driven layoffs, the survey finds that 55% of companies using AI have created new jobs. Among those, 63% added up to 25 positions. AI is reshaping roles and opening fresh opportunities, emphasizing that successful AI adoption empowers teams rather than replacing talent.
“Ignoring AI is no longer an option,” says Ciniello. “The focus has shifted from whether to use AI to how to implement it responsibly. The challenge is to ensure AI adds value without compromising safety or trust.”
Survey Details
The survey gathered insights from 250 technology leaders between December 2024 and January 2025. Since 2019, Infragistics’ research has tracked trends and challenges in software development, business intelligence, and AI adoption, helping businesses optimize and mitigate risks.
