First AI Music Contest Announced

The first AI Music Contest is here, reflecting the growing role of artificial intelligence in creative fields. Organized alongside Kappa FuturFestival, one of Europe’s top electronic music festivals, this event invites creatives and innovators to experiment with AI-driven sound and visuals. The goal is to push the boundaries of how AI can enhance live performance art.

While AI’s influence in music is still emerging, some composers have started integrating it into their work. For example, Daniel Hall’s entry in the Siddis contest, HumAnIty, included a piece generated by AI. Interestingly, 75% of listeners couldn’t tell which piece wasn’t composed by him, showing AI’s growing potential in music creation.

Perform Live and Engage Audiences

Finalists will showcase their work live on stage at Kappa FuturFestival in Turin. A panel of DJs and artists will judge the performances, focusing on the contest theme: Experience of a Beat. Participants will combine AI with music, visual arts, and audience interaction to create immersive experiences.

DJ and visual artist Ali Demirel shared his thoughts on the contest: “As an artist always seeking new sonic frontiers, I’m curious about how AI will fit into live performances. This contest could open new paths for expression in electronic music and visual arts.”

Albertino, DJ and Artistic Director of m2o, added: “Artificial intelligence is shaping electronic music. I’m eager to see how participants use AI to craft fresh and engaging live shows.”
