AI Summit at KIET: Bridging Education and Generation AI

On 16th May 2025, the Department of CSE (AI/AI&ML) at KIET Group of Institutions, Delhi-NCR, hosted an AI Summit themed “Where Education Meets Generation AI.” The event focused on aligning with Sustainable Development Goals 4, 8, and 9, emphasizing quality education, decent work, economic growth, and innovation in industry and infrastructure.

Nearly 500 students from AI, AI & ML, and other Computer Science branches attended. The summit featured prominent figures including Chief Guest Dr. Nalin Kumar Srivastava, Director of AI Mission at the Ministry of Electronics and IT, and Guest of Honour Dr. D.P. Singh, Head of AWS Skills at AWS. Fifteen experts from academia and industry shared insights and experiences, creating a rich learning environment.

Opening Ceremony and Key Insights

The summit began with a traditional lamp lighting ceremony led by Dr. Nalin Kumar Srivastava and Dr. D.P. Singh, supported by KIET’s leadership team. Dr. Rekha Kashyap, Dean of CSE (AI/AI&ML), welcomed guests and outlined the event’s goals. Dr. Adesh Pandey, Director of Academics, highlighted KIET’s initiatives to foster AI education.

Dr. Srivastava emphasized the strategic importance of AI for India’s growth. He noted that the government has allocated Rs. 10,000 crores to the AI mission, with a focus on data sets and computing power. He encouraged students and startups to leverage government resources like AI Kosh to build innovative AI models that can contribute to India’s economic progress.

Perspectives from Industry and Entrepreneurship

Social entrepreneur Sh. Raghav Garg addressed the audience, stressing the impact of AI tools such as ChatGPT on the workforce. He warned that 90% of current jobs might become obsolete by the time students graduate, urging them to use AI knowledge to create new opportunities and drive growth.

Panel Discussions and Closing

Following speeches, panel discussions allowed invited experts to share practical insights on AI’s applications and future trends. The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Dr. Abhinav Juneja, Director of Corporate Relations and Placement Centre at KIET. Dr. Manoj Goel, Joint Director at KIET, extended his best wishes to everyone involved.
