Allianz ranks first in the 2026 Evident AI Index for Insurance

Allianz leads the 2026 Evident AI Index for Insurance with a talent pool 28% larger than the next competitor. The insurer has over 900 registered AI use cases in operation.

Allianz ranked first in the 2026 Evident AI Index for Insurance, leading 30 global insurers, the AI benchmarking firm Evident reported on June 16. The top spot reflects a 28% larger AI talent pool than the next competitor and more than 900 registered use cases deployed across the company's operations. The ranking confirms a shift in the industry from early AI trials to large-scale, value-driving deployments.

Allianz's talent pool and innovation lead the way

Alexandra Mousavizadeh, Co-CEO and Co-Founder at Evident, said the talent advantage is the foundation. "Allianz is setting the standard for AI adoption in the insurance sector as it tops the Evident AI Index for Insurance. Its strength in AI talent underpins this performance, with a talent pool that is 28% larger than the next strongest performer in the Index. Allianz is showing how talent, combined with leading innovation capabilities, translates into real world application at scale, with over 900 registered AI use cases."

Scaling AI across claims, underwriting, and more

Insurers are embedding AI deeper into underwriting, claims management, fraud detection, and customer interactions. The index points to a rapid acceleration of advanced use cases, particularly AI agents and automation. Autonomous agentic systems - AI that executes multi-step tasks on its own - now account for a growing share of new deployments. These developments signal that AI for Insurance has moved past proof-of-concept phase. For many teams, AI Agents & Automation are no longer future concepts but operational tools reshaping how work gets done.

Talent as a differentiator - and a signal

Allianz's AI talent pool is 28% larger than the next insurer in the ranking. Across the sector, demand for AI specialists continues to climb; one in every 50 insurance roles now belongs to an AI specialist. Barbara Karuth-Zelle, Member of the Board of Management of Allianz SE, described the ranking as a reflection of everyday impact: "Behind this ranking are thousands of moments that matter: a claim processed faster, a customer experience reimagined, a partner better connected, a colleague freed up for what truly matters. Being ranked #1 in the Evident AI Index for Insurance reflects what we at Allianz have been building together. AI didn't change our ambition. It accelerates how we deliver on it at scale."

A tighter race, a maturing industry

The index also shows that the gap between leaders and fast-followers is narrowing. AI maturity is rising across the board, making it a core capability rather than a standalone edge. Future leaders will need to scale AI responsibly, deliver measurable business results, and keep advancing their technical capabilities.

Why this matters for insurance professionals

Bigger AI talent pools aren't just a hiring statistic - they determine how fast an insurer can move from a promising pilot to a fully scaled deployment that cuts claims processing time or improves underwriting accuracy. Agentic AI systems, now a growing share of new uses, will push that speed advantage even further. Professionals who gain practical skills in deploying and governing AI - especially in automation, claims, or fraud workflows - will be better positioned as the technology moves into more customer-facing and decision-critical roles.
