AM Best Survey Shows Most Insurers Lag on AI Deployment
AM Best will present findings from its survey on artificial intelligence adoption across the insurance industry during a webinar on June 11, 2026. The presentation, hosted by the Society of Insurance Research, will reveal where insurers currently stand with AI and where they expect the technology to matter most over the next few years.
Sridhar Manyem, senior director of Industry Research and Analytics at AM Best, will lead the session titled "Adoption and Deployment of AI: AM Best Survey Results." The virtual event begins at 1:00 p.m. EDT.
The survey data carries a stark message: AI appears ready for the insurance industry, but most insurers are not. AM Best gathered responses from its rated insurers to assess how the industry is preparing for AI adoption and where the technology could create the biggest operational or competitive shifts.
What the survey covers
The research examines the current state of AI for Insurance implementation across the sector. It also identifies where insurers believe AI will have the most impact in the medium term-typically underwriting, claims processing, and risk assessment.
Manyem has led AM Best's industry research team since 2017, overseeing analysis on issues affecting insurance companies and their markets.
How to access the results
The full survey results appear in AM Best's Special Report, "Artificial Intelligence Appears to be Ready, But Most Insurers Are Not." The report is available through AM Best's publications portal.
The Society of Insurance Research, founded in 1970 as a nonprofit, hosts the webinar as part of its mission to provide a forum for insurance research and industry discussion.
