Amazon Ads launches AI Video Generator in Australia, targeting faster creative production for SMBs

Amazon Ads has rolled out its AI Video Generator to Australian advertisers, a self-serve tool that converts product images, existing footage, or Amazon product pages into six short video variations ready to run as ads. The generator produces clips typically 6-15 seconds long, complete with transitions, music, and text overlays at no additional cost for Sponsored Brands video campaigns.

Early adoption in Australia shows 12% of advertisers used the tool to launch their first Sponsored Brands video. Globally, usage grew more than fourfold quarter-on-quarter in 2025, with tens of thousands of campaigns deployed.

How it works

The tool sits inside Creative Studio and the Ad Console. Advertisers upload a product image, video asset, or link an Amazon product detail page. The generator then:

  • Assembles multiple scenes from a single product page or uploaded assets
  • Extracts and condenses longer videos into short-form clips
  • Adds transitions, background music, and text automatically
  • Allows quick edits to logo placement and headlines

The system uses product metadata and retailer signals to build multi-scene, high-motion ads without requiring separate production tools or workflows.

What this means for creatives

For creative teams and SMBs without in-house studios, the tool lowers two barriers: cost and time. Amazon cites research estimating 7.3 hours of weekly savings for marketing leaders using AI-generated creative.

Output quality depends on input quality. Strong product images, detailed product page content, and well-shot existing footage will yield better results. Creatives should validate each generated variant before running it live.

The practical workflow shifts toward rapid iteration. Teams can generate six variations, test them in parallel, and measure performance on click-through rates, view-through conversions, and downstream purchase metrics. This makes A/B testing faster and lowers the cost of creative experimentation.

What to track

Compare performance between AI-generated video and handcrafted ads using the same metrics. Don't assume generated creative will underperform-measure actual conversion lift and brand safety outcomes.

Amazon flags that all ads go through moderation, but creatives should run their own brand-control tests to ensure generated output aligns with brand guidelines.

Watch for feature expansions: aspect-ratio presets, voiceover options, longer duration outputs, and API access for programmatic creative generation at scale.

This is part of a broader Amazon Ads strategy to add generative video alongside existing tools like Creative Agent, Image Generator, and Audio Generator. For AI for Marketing teams, the rollout means more video inventory entering the market and lower friction for sellers testing video formats for the first time.
