Amazon eero says new AI tools can reduce ISP support escalations by over 30%

Amazon eero has added AI-powered troubleshooting and instant network health analysis to its Insight Cloud management platform, tools the company says can cut support escalations by more than 30%. For customer support teams at the 200-plus ISPs that use eero, the update puts years of accumulated Wi-Fi expertise directly into frontline agents' hands through a chat-style interface and automated diagnostics.

How the AI troubleshooting agent works

The new release has two main components. The first is an AI troubleshooting agent that lets support staff query a customer's network using a ChatGPT-style interface. "This feature acts as a Tier 2 expert for ISP front-line support agents, running full diagnostics on a customer's network, identifying root causes ranging from WAN connectivity and mesh topology to device-level health, and recommending or executing corrective action," said Ashwath Krishnan, Product Leader at Amazon eero.

The second component, called Highlights, is an AI-generated network health snapshot on the agent's dashboard. It gives support staff immediate visibility into what is happening on a customer's network before they ask the first question. The goal is shorter calls, fewer escalations, and higher agent productivity.

The system draws on two data sources: real-time network telemetry and years of runbooks from eero's in-house customer experience team. That team handles consumer troubleshooting calls daily and worked alongside engineering throughout development. Their frontline knowledge of what customers actually call about shaped what the AI needs to know and how it should respond.

Diagnostics that take seconds

The speed of the health check matters in a live support call. "In seconds, AI-powered troubleshooting can run a full health check consolidating network status, device health, firmware, outage history, mesh connectivity, and connected devices in one response," Krishnan said. The system identifies hardware bottlenecks, SSID conflicts, channel congestion, signal issues, and packet loops caused by third-party devices, then provides step-by-step resolution guidance.

eero expects the tools to reduce truck rolls because agents will resolve more issues on the first call. For support organizations that measure cost per contact and escalation rates, a 30% reduction in escalations translates directly to operational savings. The company said its AI stack is built to handle contact center tools, fleet operations, and integration work as ISPs adopt AI across more of their operations.

Why this matters for customer support professionals

Support agents often face a knowledge gap when troubleshooting home networking issues. They rely on what the customer describes, which is frequently incomplete or inaccurate. eero's approach flips that dynamic: the agent sees a full diagnostic snapshot before the conversation starts, and an AI agent trained on real support runbooks suggests next steps. For front-line staff, this means less time searching knowledge bases and more time resolving issues. For team leads and operations managers, the 30% escalation reduction forecast offers a concrete benchmark when evaluating whether AI tools deliver measurable results rather than vague efficiency promises.
