Anthropic opens Milan office as Italian enterprises adopt Claude
Anthropic has opened an office in Milan, expanding its European footprint to support enterprise adoption of Claude across Italy. The move marks the company's sixth European location, joining existing offices in London, Dublin, Paris, Zurich, and Munich.
The Milan office will serve enterprises, developers, and researchers using Claude while contributing to discussions about how advanced AI should be developed responsibly. Anthropic co-founder Chris Olah recently presented at the Vatican alongside Pope Leo XIV's new AI-focused encyclical, where he discussed the ethical challenges of advanced AI systems.
Enterprise adoption accelerating
Several major Italian organizations have already adopted Claude, including Generali Group, Unipol Group, Angelini Pharma, Bracco Group, Enel Group, and Pirelli. The deployments span insurance, pharmaceuticals, energy, and manufacturing.
Technology firms have integrated Claude into development workflows. JAKALA deployed Claude across more than 3,000 users, while Satispay and Bending Spoons use the system to accelerate engineering and product development.
Responsible AI development focus
Anthropic said the Milan office will support Italy's AI ecosystem while encouraging broader debate about responsible deployment of advanced AI technologies. The company has positioned itself around questions of how generative AI and LLM systems should be developed, particularly regarding involvement from governments, academia, civil society, and religious institutions.
