The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS), an autonomous body under the Union Health Ministry, achieved a Guinness World Record today for the most viewers of an Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare lesson live stream on YouTube. The record was set through a nationwide online training programme on AI in Healthcare designed for registered medical practitioners across India.

A record for AI training at scale

The Union Health Ministry said the record came through the successful implementation of the nationwide online training programme. NBEMS built the course specifically for registered medical practitioners, bringing AI education to doctors at national scale through a single YouTube live stream.

Dr Abhijat Sheth, President of NBEMS, said the recognition "is not merely a record but a testimony to India's leadership in adopting digital innovation in medical education." He added that NBEMS "remains committed to advancing competency-based learning and will continue to introduce initiatives aimed at enhancing the quality of healthcare delivery across the nation."

What the record signals for medical training

The record shows that Indian medical institutions are treating AI as a practical skill for working doctors, not a theoretical topic. For healthcare professionals, this means AI for Healthcare training is being delivered at a scale that reaches practitioners across the country through platforms they already use.

The programme also points to a shift in how medical boards approach continuing education. It is one example of how AI for Education is being applied to medical training in India, and Dr Sheth said NBEMS will keep introducing similar initiatives.

Why this matters for healthcare professionals

The Guinness World Record is less about the accolade and more about what it signals to practising doctors: AI skills are now part of formal medical training in India. If you haven't yet explored how AI tools apply to your clinical work, this is a sign that the profession is moving in that direction. The scale of this programme shows how quickly AI education is becoming accessible to the medical community. A single live stream reached enough viewers to set a world record.
