PTC released updated versions of its Codebeamer and Pure Variants platforms Tuesday, introducing automated change tracking across product variants and a semantic search assistant for engineering teams. The update targets a persistent bottleneck in regulated manufacturing: engineers spend excessive time reconciling configuration differences and searching through fragmented requirement databases instead of shipping validated designs.
Configuration automation and variant control
Codebeamer 3.3 introduces Delta Merge, a feature that automatically propagates approved changes across related product variants. Engineers no longer need to manually reapply modifications to each configuration line. A new Streams Tab tracks those variant lines, while role-based permissions dictate which managers can approve changes within specific streams. The platform also deepens its integration with PTC's Windchill PLM system to extend the digital thread.

Codebeamer AI 1.2 adds an AI Search Assistant that uses semantic search to interpret intent rather than matching exact keywords. The release pairs the assistant with an Indexing Service that lets regulated industries dictate how and where their engineering data processes. Pure Variants 7.3 introduces Stream Transformation, which converts a configured product variant into a working set tied directly to Codebeamer.
