Kyndryl and WPP expand partnership to modernize WPP's tech with AI agents

Kyndryl and WPP struck a deal to cut monthly IT support tickets from 40,000 to 5,000, targeting a 56% drop in incidents and supporting WPP's £500 million annual cost-savings goal by 2028.

Kyndryl and WPP announced an expanded partnership on October 6, 2026, to deploy Kyndryl's Agentic AI Framework across WPP's enterprise technology. The deal targets a 56% reduction in IT incidents and a dramatic cut in monthly support tickets from 40,000 to 5,000, directly supporting WPP's plan to find £500 million in annualized cost savings by 2028.

The collaboration builds on existing work between the two companies. Kyndryl Bridge AIOps, an AI-powered operations platform, has already been deployed inside WPP and delivered a 90.5% customer satisfaction score in its first month. It also cut an estimated 300 metric tons of CO₂ emissions and generated multi-million-pound savings, according to the companies.

What the Agentic AI Framework does inside WPP

Kyndryl's framework will integrate and automate WPP's legacy technology environment. The goal is to strip out operational complexity that has accumulated across WPP's business platforms. By applying AI agents to routine IT tasks, the system reduces the volume of human-touched incidents and service requests.

The numbers tell the story. Monthly ServiceNow tickets are expected to fall from 40,000 to 5,000. IT incidents drop by 56%. These are not marginal improvements - they represent a structural change in how WPP's internal technology runs.

WPP's Elevate28 strategy and the cost target

WPP launched its Elevate28 strategy in February 2026 with a clear financial goal: £500 million in annualized cost savings by 2028. Of that, £400 million is earmarked as cash savings, phased over two years. The Kyndryl partnership is one of the operational levers pulling toward that number.

The deal also extends into marketing. WPP was named Kyndryl's preferred global marketing partner, which gives WPP's AI-powered marketing system, WPP Open, a role in Kyndryl's own go-to-market work. It is a two-way commercial relationship, not a one-sided vendor contract.

Why this matters for operations, IT management, and marketing leaders

For operations and IT managers, the 56% incident reduction and 87.5% ticket drop are concrete benchmarks. They show what happens when AI agents move from pilot projects into production at scale inside a complex global enterprise. The CO₂ savings - 300 metric tons in one month from one platform - also give sustainability and facilities teams a data point for their own AI business cases.

Marketing and customer support leaders should watch how WPP Open gets deployed inside Kyndryl. When a marketing services firm becomes the preferred partner for an IT infrastructure company, the line between creative services and technology operations blurs. The skills needed to manage AI-powered marketing platforms overlap increasingly with those required for AI-driven IT operations. For teams building internal AI capabilities, AI Strategy for IT Managers offers a structured path to evaluate frameworks like the one Kyndryl is using. Professionals responsible for automation initiatives may also find relevant coursework among AI Agent Courses that cover the mechanics behind agentic systems.
