Article on Ripple Integrates AI to Streng...

Ripple is integrating AI into the XRP Ledger (XRPL) development process to catch security vulnerabilities before they reach production. The company's engineering team has already identified more than ten bugs through an AI-assisted red team, and the next XRPL release will focus exclusively on stability fixes.

Ripple detailed the strategy in a blog post. The security framework includes adversarial code scanning, AI-assisted reviews for every pull request, threat modeling, and attack surface mapping for both new and existing features.

AI red team finds bugs early

Ripple created a dedicated AI-assisted red team that tests how features interact in real-world scenarios. It has identified more than ten bugs, all classified as low severity, and is fixing them with prioritized work.

The company is also modernizing the XRPL codebase, tightening requirements for protocol amendments, increasing bug bounty rewards, and strengthening collaboration with ecosystem partners.

Stability-first release

The next XRPL release will ship only bug fixes and performance improvements - no new features. Ripple's Senior Director of Engineering said the network is shifting to a more proactive approach, identifying risks early and continuously strengthening the foundation.

XRPL has operated for more than 14 years with a track record of high reliability. The initiative aims to meet growing institutional requirements, including open vulnerability disclosures and clear security benchmarks for developers.

The approach mirrors how AI for IT & Development teams are adopting automated code review and threat modeling to harden their own pipelines.

Market reaction

XRP's price dropped to a two-week low on March 27, trading around $1.33 to $1.36 - down roughly 5 percent in 24 hours amid a broader crypto market correction, according to CoinMarketCap. The asset has declined more than 60 percent from its all-time high of $3.65, reached in July last year.

Why this matters for IT & Development

Ripple's strategy is a working example of AI applied to software security at scale: automated code scanning, AI-assisted pull request reviews, and red-team testing are techniques any development team can adopt. Shipping a release with zero new features to focus on stability is also a model for balancing velocity against reliability in mature engineering organizations.
