Emanate, a San Francisco startup with ten employees, is deploying AI sales tools built exclusively for the industrial materials sector. The company argues that highly configured agents will outperform generic models in a multi-trillion dollar market where sales cycles drag due to manual quote generation.

The quote bottleneck

Manufacturers, distributors, and service providers deal in steel, aluminum, wire, and piping. Their sales processes require generating custom quotes, matching existing customers with replacement parts, and prospecting for new accounts. Traditional systems take three to four weeks to produce accurate pricing. Recent advances in language models have compressed that timeline significantly. "That was only recent-in terms of the last approximately six to eight months," founder and CEO Kiara Nirghin said. "So there is a very big change in quality and step function in terms of actually applying the models."

The framework wraps the model

Nirghin says the competitive edge comes from the system connecting predictive outputs to backend software. She calls it the infrastructure. It links AI tools directly to enterprise resource planning systems, proprietary databases, and custom business rules. The startup raised undisclosed funding from investors including Andreessen Horowitz and M13. Their strategy relies on proving that vertical-specific configurations close deals faster than standard commercial agents.

Why this matters for sales professionals

Sales roles in heavy industry and manufacturing supply chains spend disproportionate time compiling specifications and calculating margins. Tools that automate quote drafting free up hours for negotiation and account management. Teams using these integrated systems also reduce errors from manual data entry, which cuts down on mistargeted production and wasted inventory. If your organization handles complex B2B transactions, evaluating vertical-specific AI agents before committing to general-purpose platforms will likely improve cycle times and win rates.
