Avnet and Weston Robot have launched an AI-powered autonomous inspection robot designed for complex industrial environments. The platform, built on AMD Ryzen AI Embedded processors, combines edge AI, intelligent perception, and autonomous navigation to help organizations improve safety and operational resilience without relying on cloud connectivity.

The system performs continuous monitoring across manufacturing, energy, utilities, transportation, logistics, and critical infrastructure operations. It can detect objects and anomalies, identify people and vehicles, check for personal protective equipment (PPE) compliance, spot unauthorized intrusions, and conduct thermal and visual inspections for hotspots, fluid leaks, and equipment abnormalities before they cause operational failures.

The robot operates in GPS-denied environments by using 3D LiDAR simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM). It builds high-precision digital maps in real time, navigates autonomously, avoids obstacles, and optimizes inspection routes dynamically. The platform delivers up to 50 TOPS of AI performance on device, meaning it processes data locally with low latency even where cloud access is limited.
