AvoLabs automates language education tasks, scoring, and tracking to reduce teacher preparation time by 90 percent

AvoLabs is deploying AI to automate lesson planning in South Korea's 27 trillion won private education market. Educators report a 90 percent reduction in class preparation time.

AvoLabs, an edutech company founded by Turkish entrepreneur Deniz Albayrak, is deploying generative AI to automate lesson planning and student assessment in South Korea. The platform addresses a chronic inefficiency in a private education market that spends 27 trillion won annually, yet frequently fails to produce students capable of practical communication.

Automating the teacher workflow

The AvoLingo platform introduces three automated features designed to replace manual administrative work. First, task generation automation allows teachers to input a topic and difficulty level, prompting the AI to build a personalized curriculum for a student in five minutes. Second, a real-time scoring system evaluates speaking and writing tasks, delivering immediate, detailed feedback. Finally, a tracking dashboard highlights student vulnerabilities, eliminating the need for manual spreadsheet management. Since adopting the platform, educators report a 90 percent reduction in class preparation time, highlighting a shift toward resources like the AI Learning Path for Teachers that focus on automating routine grading and planning.

Targeting the communication gap

The global language education market is projected to grow from $11.7 billion in 2024 to $124.7 billion in 2034, driven by a shift from rote memorization to practical AI interaction. AvoLabs aims to capture this demand by focusing on conversational fluency rather than test scores. "AvoLabs' ultimate goal is to fill the gap where the excellent amount of learning of Korean students does not lead to actual communication," said Deniz Albayrak, CEO of AvoLabs. To support this, the company relocated its headquarters to South Korea and established a technical team in Pangyo to synchronize its AI engine with domestic legacy databases and local security protocols.

Securing institutional partnerships

The company has secured more than 50 educational institutions across Korea, Turkiye, Germany, and the United Arab Emirates within a year of launch. In Korea alone, AvoLabs partnered with over 40 paid academies in six months. This adoption attracted investment from global accelerator SparkLabs, which cited the platform's technical versatility. This growth was facilitated by the Gyeonggi Center for Creative Economy and Innovation, which helped the startup lower legal and administrative barriers and connect with corporate partners after its entry through the K-Startup Grand Challenge.

Why this matters for educators

For educators, the integration of generative AI into language instruction signals a shift from manual content creation to curriculum curation. Tools that automate grading and track student progress in real time allow teachers to redirect their focus from administrative tasks to direct student intervention. Evaluating platforms that offer transparent scoring and localized data security will be critical as schools adopt AI for Education to close the gap between test performance and practical language use.
