Bolo AI Raises $8.1M to Streamline Heavy Industry Operations with AI-Driven Insights

Bolo AI raised $8.1M to develop AI tools that deliver real-time insights for frontline heavy industry teams. Their platform helps prevent project delays and cost overruns.

Bolo AI Raises $8.1M to Improve Heavy Industry Operations

Bolo AI, a company creating AI tools for heavy industry, has closed an $8.1 million seed funding round. This funding will support the development of a “system of action” aimed at delivering critical insights to frontline teams. The goal is to help them make faster, safer, and better decisions across complex operational value chains.

Founders with Real-World Experience

Bolo AI was founded by Diti Sood, CEO, and Dr. Lalit Jain, CTO. Sood’s background is rooted in hands-on industrial work. She started as a field engineer in oil and gas at Schlumberger NV, where she was the first female engineer in her group on offshore rigs in Abu Dhabi. This frontline experience, combined with an MBA from Harvard and expertise in AI, shaped her approach to solving industry challenges with technology.

“I founded Bolo AI with a mission close to my heart: to make daily work faster, safer and better for the heavy industry worker,” said Sood. “My unique background gives me an advantage to build this new operating system for the industry.”

Bridging the Data Gap on Industrial Job Sites

Heavy industrial sites generate massive amounts of data—from production stats and sensor readings to SCADA systems and documentation. While companies like SAP, Oracle, and IBM capture and manage this data, it often remains siloed and hard for frontline workers to access quickly.

This disconnect causes delays and inefficiencies. For example, a project delay buried in an 80-page weekly report can go unnoticed by a busy project manager, leading to bigger issues and costly setbacks.

A Single Platform for Frontline Insights

Bolo AI’s platform acts as a “single pane of glass” for industrial workers. It integrates smoothly with tools such as Microsoft Teams and works across desktops, tablets, and mobile devices. The AI delivers relevant insights based on each user’s role and workflow.

For example, a drilling operator might get real-time alerts on well logs and drilling hazards, while a project manager sees schedule updates and financial trends that highlight risks like cost overruns or delays before they escalate.

Addressing Project Overruns

One of Bolo AI’s first applications focuses on capital project overruns, a persistent problem where budgets can exceed estimates by up to 79%, and timelines stretch from six months to two years.

The platform pulls context from contracts, change orders, and meeting notes to alert managers proactively. This early warning helps teams intervene sooner, preventing costly escalations and keeping projects on track.

Funding and Investors

The $8.1 million seed round was led by True Ventures, with participation from Benchstrength, Accomplice, J Ventures, and Beat Ventures.
