Brightcove launches Gen 2 video platform with AI agents that automate media workflows

Brightcove has launched Brightcove Gen 2, a major platform update that introduces an AI Agentic Hub designed to let video teams specify outcomes rather than individual tasks. The system coordinates AI agents across the platform to handle content analysis, metadata management, workflow optimization, and video experience configuration through a conversational interface. The launch comes ahead of IBC2026 and marks the first major platform milestone since Bending Spoons acquired Brightcove in late 2024.

Gen 2 consolidates more than 22 product innovations and 30 platform enhancements introduced over the past 18 months. The platform targets three areas: increasing video revenue, reducing operational complexity through AI Workflow Automation, and strengthening core infrastructure while accelerating product development.

How the AI Agentic Hub works

The AI Agentic Hub represents a shift from conventional AI assistants that answer questions to agents capable of completing multi-step tasks autonomously. Users describe a desired outcome, and the system distributes work across specialized AI agents rather than requiring manual configuration of each step. Brightcove said the Hub is already available to selected production customers and will be demonstrated publicly for the first time at IBC before a broader rollout.

Facundo Alvarez Morales, Brightcove's Head of Product, said the platform is designed to help video teams "reach more audiences, personalise content and generate greater value without increasing headcount."

Built on recent platform additions

The Gen 2 launch builds on several recent updates, including the redesigned Prism interface, enhanced monetisation tools, localisation and accessibility features, Next-Gen Live capabilities, and existing AI-powered workflow automation. The company said Bending Spoons' acquisition accelerated product development, with Gen 2 serving as the first major release under the new ownership structure.

Similar agentic AI concepts are appearing across cloud software, but Brightcove is among the first enterprise video platforms to integrate agentic AI across media workflows.

Why this matters for product development

For product teams building video capabilities, Brightcove's approach signals a shift in how platform vendors are packaging AI. Instead of bolting on chatbots or single-purpose tools, the AI Agentic Hub treats automation as a coordination layer - one that spans metadata, content analysis, and experience configuration. This model reduces the integration burden on product teams that would otherwise need to stitch together separate AI services. The emphasis on outcome-based instructions, rather than task-level configuration, also points to a design pattern worth watching: interfaces that let users describe what they want, not how to do it.
