CarePay Launches AI-Driven Healthcare EMI Platform ‘Careena’ to Address Medical Financing Challenges in India

Healthcare expenses in India continue to rise, yet insurance coverage remains limited, reaching only about 36% of the population. This leaves millions vulnerable during medical emergencies. To tackle this financial gap, fintech company CarePay has introduced Careena, an AI-powered platform that simplifies healthcare financing by offering easy, instant EMI options tailored for patients across the country.

Careena provides no-cost EMI approvals up to ₹10 lakhs for a variety of healthcare needs, including surgeries, diagnostics, chronic disease care, and preventive services. The platform leverages an AI assistant—CARE Engagement Assistant—that guides patients through financing in real-time. By analyzing factors such as employment, education, and income, Careena delivers eligibility checks and loan approvals within minutes, a process that traditionally takes several days.

CarePay CEO Gaurav Gupta highlights, “Our goal is to remove financial roadblocks that delay essential medical care. Careena acts as a companion throughout the financing journey, ensuring patients receive timely treatment without added financial pressure.”

Key Features of Careena

  • 0% EMI options: Partner hospitals absorb interest costs to increase patient access.
  • AI-based risk assessment: Enables quick and accurate loan approvals.
  • Mobile-first design: Accessible on all devices and integrates smoothly with hospital management systems.
  • Data security: End-to-end encryption and compliance with regulations protect patient information.

Since its launch, CarePay has formed strategic partnerships with over 550 wellness centres, 1,500 clinics, and more than 30 hospitals. Collaborations with multinational healthcare companies and chronic care providers further extend Careena’s reach.

Established in 2023, CarePay focuses on B2B2C healthcare financing solutions that empower providers with flexible payment options while improving operational workflows. Careena represents a shift in how financial decisions are handled between patients and healthcare providers, making medical financing more inclusive and efficient across India.
