Center for AI Safety Appoints Robinhood and Meta Executive as Head of Public Engagement

The Center for AI Safety has named Rochelle Nadhiri as Head of Public Engagement, tasking her with translating AI safety research for audiences beyond the technical community. Nadhiri spent two decades in technology communications and policy roles at Robinhood and Meta.

At Robinhood, Nadhiri served as VP and Head of Communications, overseeing corporate and policy communications globally. She directed launch communications for Robinhood Retirement, which reached more than 1 million users within 30 days.

At Meta, Nadhiri managed the $50 million XR Programs and Research Fund, a two-year initiative supporting responsible metaverse development through partnerships with academic institutions, policy organizations, nonprofits, and government agencies.

What Nadhiri Will Do

As Head of Public Engagement, Nadhiri will oversee media relations, narrative strategy, and public-facing communications. Her focus will be building sustained public understanding of AI safety across policy, journalism, technology, and general audiences.

"AI safety is no longer an abstract issue, but instead is a concrete challenge impacting real institutions, real policy decisions, and real lives," Nadhiri said. "CAIS has long produced some of the most important research in this field, and I look forward to helping bridge the gap to the audiences most affected by AI."

Devin Kim, President of CAIS, said Nadhiri's track record shows she can "make complex, high-stakes stories legible to the people who need to act on them."

Part of Broader Expansion

The appointment follows CAIS's recent naming of Kim as President and the launch of the Frontier Security Institute, a national security-focused research unit. The moves reflect the nonprofit's effort to expand its research agenda and institutional reach as AI development accelerates.
