China has formulated nearly 200 national standards for artificial intelligence to guide the sector's development, a senior industry official said Wednesday. Xin Guobin, vice minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, told a press conference that AI is now integrated across the full industrial chain in China, from R&D and design to production, quality inspection, and maintenance.
Xin said multiple cities are being organized to carry out AI ethics review and service practices. The standards effort is part of a broader push to keep AI development orderly as adoption spreads through Chinese manufacturing and industry.
6G development accelerates
During China's 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-2030), the government will accelerate work on core 6G technologies. Xin said continuous 6G technology trials and standards development will be carried out to promote maturation of the 6G industry and its ecosystem, preparing for commercial deployment.
The plan also calls for cultivating application scenarios and speeding up large-scale adoption of new technologies and products. China will launch demonstration programs for large-scale application in the manufacturing sector, with a focus on 5G, AI, robotics, and the industrial internet.
