Citi Deploys Google-Powered AI Avatar for Wealth Management Clients
Citigroup is rolling out Citi Sky, an AI avatar powered by Google Cloud and Google DeepMind, to help its premium wealth clients access market insights and financial guidance. The tool will reach Citigold clients this summer in a phased launch.
Citi Sky runs on the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform and uses Google DeepMind's real-time avatar technology with live audio and video capabilities. Clients can ask it for timely financial advice-such as alerts about certificate of deposit maturity dates or market analysis from Citi Wealth's investment office.
The avatar will initially support English and Spanish, with more languages added later. It integrates into existing Citi Wealth platforms in the United States and works alongside human financial advisors.
How This Changes the Advisor Model
Andy Sieg, Citi's head of wealth, said the tool shifts how clients manage their finances. "For decades, managing your financial life meant navigating apps, calls, and meetings. With Citi Sky, you simply ask-and act."
Sieg emphasized that Citi Sky doesn't replace advisors. "It doesn't replace our advisors-it makes them more powerful, extending their reach and deepening their impact," he said. Citi plans to hire additional advisors in coming years.
The tool operates on a secure data foundation that meets regulatory standards. Citi and Google will continue expanding its capabilities as part of their multi-year partnership, which began roughly two years ago to support Citi's cloud and AI strategy.
Thomas Kurian, Google Cloud CEO, said the partnership demonstrates how AI can convert data into actionable insights for investors. "With Gemini Enterprise as the backbone of Citi Sky, combined with frontier models from Google DeepMind, Citi Wealth is establishing a new blueprint for how agentic AI can drive high-quality, personalized financial insights."
