CodeSignal and Harvard Business Impact announced a partnership to bring practice-based AI literacy and durable skills courses to universities worldwide. The collaboration puts CodeSignal's hands-on courses into Harvard Business Impact's global catalog, letting students work with real AI tools and workplace scenarios instead of just reading about them.

The timing reflects a widening gap between classroom instruction and workplace demands. The World Economic Forum's Future of Jobs Report 2025 estimates that 39% of workers' core skills will change by 2030, yet most graduates enter the job market having read about these skills more than they have practiced them.

Hands-on AI courses with immediate feedback

CodeSignal's AI fluency courses go beyond explaining what generative AI is. Students write effective prompts, work with real AI tools, and weigh the ethics of AI applications. The courses include Generative AI for Everyone, Prompt Engineering for Everyone, Effective Prompt Engineering with Chat AI, and Artificial Intelligence Ethics.

Each course uses CodeSignal's AI tutor, Cosmo, to give students immediate, developmental feedback as they complete exercises. For those looking to build on these foundations, Prompt Engineering Courses and Generative AI and LLM Courses cover similar ground for working professionals.

Durable skills that textbooks can't teach

The co-developed Essential Skills courses are part of Harvard Business Impact's newly launched Essential Skills Suites. They include Navigating Change and Uncertainty, Collaborating Productively, and Thinking and Acting with Integrity.

What educators are seeing

"Practice, feedback, and reflection give students a powerful way to develop skills they can apply beyond the classroom," said Nicole Harris, Senior Director, Strategic Planning and Growth Initiatives, Harvard Business Impact. "The CodeSignal platform gives students that opportunity in real time, with personalized AI-powered feedback."

StΓ©phanie Durand, VP of Strategic Partnerships at CodeSignal, said most students don't get to practice these skills until they're already on the job. "With Harvard Business Impact, we wanted to give today's students a solid place to start: real, hands-on practice completing tasks with AI and experiencing workplace scenarios that matter right now."

Dr. Andrea Martin, professor of practice of AI and business at Loyola University New Orleans, reported that students are exploring beyond the assigned curriculum. "Some students are actually getting very interested in AI and coding things I'm not even asking them about, because the [CodeSignal] platform is fun," she said.

Educators can assign the courses as homework. Students can also bring real situations they're facing at school to Cosmo for personalized guidance. On completion, students earn a certificate from Harvard Business Impact and CodeSignal. The two organizations plan to expand the catalog with more AI, technical, and essential skills courses over time.

If universities start graduating students who have already practiced prompt engineering, AI ethics, and workplace collaboration in realistic scenarios, the baseline for entry-level hires rises.
