Coursedog Acquires ClassRanked to Link Student Feedback to Academic Operations

Coursedog acquired ClassRanked on April 20, integrating the course evaluation platform into its Assessment Cloud. The move connects student feedback on teaching directly to curriculum decisions, scheduling, and accreditation workflows.

Higher education institutions have struggled with fragmented evaluation systems. Student feedback typically sits in separate tools, disconnected from the systems where academic leaders actually make decisions about course design, scheduling, and accreditation reporting.

ClassRanked addresses this by combining mobile-friendly evaluation collection with direct integrations to Student Information Systems and Learning Management Systems. The platform reports higher completion rates than traditional survey approaches.

What Operations Leaders Get

The acquisition closes a gap in academic operations. Institutions now have a single environment where:

  • Student feedback on teaching flows directly into assessment plans
  • Evaluation data informs curriculum updates
  • Course scheduling decisions draw on teaching effectiveness insights
  • Accreditation reports pull from connected feedback data

Coursedog CEO Andrew Rosen said the integration lets institutions "move from insight to action and action to outcomes, faster than ever." Operations teams no longer need to manually transfer evaluation data between systems.

Background

Coursedog, founded in 2018, manages scheduling, curriculum, catalogs, and assessment for higher education institutions. ClassRanked, also founded in 2018 at Duke University, built its platform specifically for colleges and universities.

Hayden Hall, ClassRanked's founder and CEO, will lead Coursedog's Assessment Cloud division following the acquisition. Hall said the combination gives institutions "the connected tools they need to turn student feedback into real improvements in teaching and learning."

For operations professionals managing academic workflows, this means fewer data handoffs and faster feedback loops between student input and institutional decision-making.
