Crescendo launches AI-native customer experience platform to replace fragmented CX tools

Crescendo has launched an AI-native customer experience platform that combines contact centre software, ticketing, workforce management, quality assurance and knowledge tools into a single system. The company, founded in 2024 by Andy Lee, is positioning the platform as an alternative to the long-established model of buying separate tools for each customer service function.

The platform handles customer interactions across phone, chat, email and messaging channels while supporting human agents and tracking operational performance. It includes a set of specialised AI agents: a concierge tool that manages customer cases, an assistant for human specialists during live conversations, an insights function that reviews conversations and outcomes, a quality tool that scores interactions, and a workforce function for forecasting demand.

Lee, who spent nearly 25 years building customer experience outsourcing group Alorica, argues that layering AI on top of disconnected legacy systems doesn't fix their underlying limits.

"For thirty years, CX software assumed people do the work and software helps them do it faster, so every job got its own tool," said Lee, Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of Crescendo. "I've bought nearly all of them in my career. I know exactly where that operating model's ceiling is, because I've hit it. AI doesn't raise that ceiling - it removes it, but only if what's built underneath was built for AI in the first place. Bolt it onto a stack of disconnected systems and you get a faster version of the same problem."

Governance and self-improvement

Beneath the AI agents sits an operating layer for orchestration, integration, simulation, optimisation and knowledge management. That layer helps AI agents connect to back-end systems, test changes before they reach customers, and improve responses over time.

A central element is what Crescendo calls a governed improvement loop. The quality system scores conversations, the insights tool identifies causes of failures, the optimisation function drafts changes, and a simulation step tests those changes before they go live. Human approval is required before any change is deployed.

"Self-improving doesn't mean self-authorising," said Tod Famous, Co-Founder and Chief Product Officer of Crescendo. "The system operates based on a governance model where the people are always in control. That's what makes compounding improvement safe enough to run in enterprise production."

Early customers and results

Crescendo launched in the UK earlier this year and has signed customers including Dr. Martens, Funky Pigeon, Mention Me, RealVNC, Sweet Bee Organics, Good Eggs Grocery, Grindr, Headspace, Lovepop, Nothing Bundt Cakes and SQUIRE.

The company says AI-handled volume on its platform has grown 600% over the past year, and around 70% of customer issues across its deployments are resolved from day one. It also reports that customer dissatisfaction rates have fallen from 5.8% to 0.68% in under a year. Those figures were not independently verified.

One customer cited cost and reporting improvements after switching from an established support software provider. "We were on Zendesk, but reporting was fragmented and costs kept climbing. Crescendo gave us one platform with stronger visibility and cleaner reporting, and cut our CX stack costs by more than 60%," said Chris Jocson, Chief Operating Officer of Good Eggs Grocery.

Crescendo includes security controls, APIs, compliance tools and availability controls in the platform rather than selling them separately. For customer support teams evaluating new tools, the platform's bundled approach and its governance model for AI changes are worth weighing against the cost and complexity of maintaining multiple systems. Those working in contact centres may also find practical value in AI Learning Path for Call Center Supervisors, which covers how AI tools apply to workforce management and quality monitoring. Why this matters for customer support professionals

The shift toward single-platform AI systems changes what skills matter in customer service roles. If Crescendo's claims hold up - 70% of issues resolved by AI from day one, dissatisfaction rates dropping from 5.8% to 0.68% - the human agent's job becomes less about handling routine tickets and more about handling escalations, reviewing AI performance and approving system changes. Support teams that understand how these governance loops work, and can audit AI decisions rather than just use the tools, will be better positioned as more vendors move in this direction.
