Duck Creek acquires Send Technology Solutions to create AI underwriting and core insurance platform

Duck Creek Technologies has acquired Send Technology Solutions, an AI-native underwriting orchestration platform, for an undisclosed sum. The deal combines Duck Creek's core insurance platform with Send's underwriting technology to create what the companies describe as the industry's first agentic AI platform spanning underwriting through core operations. For insurers, the move promises faster decision-making, reduced turnaround times, and a unified system for managing complex risks.

Duck Creek serves hundreds of P&C insurers worldwide, including more than half of the world's top 20 P&C carriers. Send supports over $26 billion in gross written premium and helps insurers orchestrate underwriting workflows for complex commercial and specialty risks. The acquisition reflects the growing role of AI for Insurance as carriers seek to modernize underwriting and connect previously siloed processes.

Unified underwriting and core operations

The combined platform addresses common underwriting bottlenecks: fragmented submissions, disconnected data, inconsistent pricing, and limited portfolio visibility. By integrating submission intake, triage, data enrichment, risk assessment, pricing, policy issuance, and portfolio monitoring, insurers can operate with greater speed and consistency. Send's platform has already cut quote turnaround times by up to sevenfold and reduced product launch times by as much as 65% for its customers, Duck Creek said.

Agentic AI for insurance

The acquisition extends Duck Creek's recently introduced Agentic AI Platform and Agentic Underwriting Workbench strategy. Insurers can deploy and govern AI agents throughout the insurance lifecycle while maintaining transparency, compliance, and oversight. Integrating Send's orchestration engine will embed insurance-specific AI agents directly into underwriting workflows. Send will continue operating as a standalone underwriting orchestration platform that integrates with multiple core systems, while also receiving deeper integration with Duck Creek's Intelligent Insurance Cloud.

What leaders say

"By bringing Send into Duck Creek, we are combining core insurance operations and underwriting orchestration in a trusted agentic AI experience that connects systems of record, decision intelligence, workflows, and action," said Hardeep Gulati, CEO of Duck Creek. "This is the game changer for insurers: a unified platform that helps them turn underwriting complexity into clearer decisions, faster execution, stronger risk selection, and measurable business value."

Andy Moss, CEO and co-founder of Send, will remain as General Manager of Underwriting. "Send was built to help insurers navigate increasingly complex underwriting decisions by orchestrating people, data, AI, and workflows into a single underwriting experience," Moss said. "Joining Duck Creek creates an opportunity to bring that vision to a broader global market while helping insurers achieve faster decisions, greater efficiency, and more profitable growth."

Why this matters for insurance professionals

The integration signals a shift toward AI-powered orchestration that handles repetitive submission triage and data enrichment, letting underwriters focus on complex risk assessment. Faster quote turnaround and tighter portfolio monitoring can directly improve loss ratios and competitive positioning, especially in commercial, specialty, and London Market lines where margins hinge on underwriting precision.
