Ebix Risk Launches AI-Powered Certificate of Insurance Platform

Ebix Risk announced the launch of Ebix COI, a certificate of insurance management platform that connects compliance validation directly to vendor contracts. The release introduces AI-powered workflows designed to close gaps between certificate collection and actual contract requirements.

Most organizations collect and digitize certificates but validate them against generic templates rather than specific contractual terms. Deficiencies get flagged but often go unresolved, leaving compliance gaps in place.

The new platform differs from extraction-only tools by linking certificate data to underlying contracts, validating coverage against actual requirements, and automating follow-through to resolution.

How It Works

Ebix COI centers on two intelligence layers:

  • Contract Intelligence Lens reads vendor agreements, extracts requirements, and validates certificates against actual terms.
  • Policy Intelligence Lens surfaces deeper policy and endorsement insights.

An AI Assist Agent executes key workflows-identifying deficiencies, routing outbound communications to vendors, and tracking resolution. The platform also includes AI-powered extraction to capture certificate data at scale and self-service workflows for in-house teams.

The Data Advantage

Ebix has invested more than 30 years building one of the industry's deepest datasets of certificates, policies, endorsements, and contractual exceptions. The new platform applies modern AI to that foundation.

"The real opportunity is to turn certificate compliance into an intelligent risk and compliance workflow," said Gagan Sethi, CEO of Ebix Technologies.

Robert Rodriguez, Chief Technology Officer at Ebix Risk, added: "Compliance teams don't need another extraction tool. They need to know whether a certificate actually satisfies the contract, and what to do when it doesn't."
