Healthcare IT Firm Emids to Hire 1,000 AI-Focused Engineers

Emids, a healthcare digital transformation company, plans to hire 1,000 forward-deployed context engineers (FDCEs) over the next year as it expands AI work in hospital and insurance operations.

The company will build the team across India and the Philippines by 2027, with roughly half coming from new hires and half from internal reskilling. Emids currently employs over 1,500 people in India.

What FDCEs Do

FDCEs are AI agents embedded directly into healthcare workflows. They handle tasks like claims processing, prior authorization, care management, and member engagement.

Unlike traditional development cycles that stretch months, these agents learn from existing workflows and data to deliver results in weeks, according to Emids.

The Talent Gap

Most Fortune 2000 healthcare companies already operate global capability centers (GCCs) - offshore engineering teams that handle routine development work. The shift now is toward staff who understand both healthcare operations and AI.

Finding professionals who grasp U.S. healthcare complexity and can apply AI effectively remains difficult. Emids CEO Abhishek Shankar said healthcare GCCs need to deliver more value in the AI era, which requires engineers who combine healthcare knowledge with AI skills.

Specialist firms like Emids are filling this gap by building talent with expertise on both sides - the healthcare operations and the AI execution.
