FairPrice Group Teams Up with Google Cloud to Transform Retail Operations
Singapore’s FairPrice Group (FPG) has joined forces with Google Cloud to launch the Store of Tomorrow (SOT) program. This initiative aims to integrate cloud and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies into both new and existing retail touchpoints, improving customer experiences across FairPrice supermarkets.
The program will debut in the third quarter of 2025 at FairPrice Finest in Punggol Digital District. It will feature cloud-connected shopping carts, an AI-powered operations portal, in-store video analytics, and other retail solutions developed with Google Cloud’s platform services, including modern infrastructure, data management, and generative AI (gen AI).
Smart Carts Enhance In-Store Shopping
Currently piloted at FairPrice Finest in Sengkang Grand Mall, the "Smart Carts" provide shoppers with in-store navigation, real-time promotions, and product recommendations based on individual needs. This tool streamlines the shopping journey and helps customers find what they need efficiently.
Biometric Payment and Government Support Integration
FPG plans to introduce biometric payment options supported by Google Cloud. Additionally, the consumer app is now integrated with MyInfo, enabling customers under government support schemes—such as seniors and the Pioneer, Merdeka, and CHAS Blue/Orange generations—to receive discounts without carrying physical cards. This upgrade simplifies the checkout process for eligible shoppers.
Grocer Genie: AI-Powered Store Operations Portal
Grocer Genie, developed jointly by FPG, Google Cloud, Tata Consultancy Services, and FlutterFlow, offers a centralized, AI-assisted portal for managing store operations. It is a key component of the SOT program, designed to improve operational efficiency and staff productivity.
Advanced Video Analytics for Store Management
FPG will also deploy a video analytics solution combining Google Cloud’s Vision AI and Gemini models with existing CCTV systems and the Grocer Genie portal. This integration supports real-time monitoring and operational insights, helping teams respond promptly to store conditions.
