Free IT Training for Ukrainians: Estonia Supports DevOps, Development, and AI Skills
Ukrainians aged 18 and older can access an intensive peer-to-peer IT training program through kood/Zhytomyr. Supported by Estonia as part of its digital assistance to Ukraine, the first intake begins in July.
What the Program Offers
The program targets those interested in entering the IT field with specializations in mobile development, cybersecurity, DevOps, or generative AI. Core modules include Java, JavaScript, databases, and application development. Training lasts 12 months, starting in September 2025.
Learning is project-based and practical, encouraging independence and collaboration among participants. All instruction is in English, requiring a minimum B2 language proficiency. No prior programming experience is necessary.
Selection Process and Schedule
Admission involves a three-stage Selection Sprint: two weeks offline in Zhytomyr followed by an online phase. The sprints run from July 21 to August 8 and August 11 to 29. Daily tasks on an online platform and weekly exams determine rankings.
Applications are open now at koodukraine.tech.
Training Format and Logistics
The program offers online and hybrid learning options. During offline stages, Zhytomyr Polytechnic University can provide dormitory accommodation for an additional fee. From September 2025 to September 2026, participants may study remotely or on campus using university resources.
Note that accommodation and travel costs are not covered.
Career Support and Certification
- CV writing workshops
- Technical interview preparation
- Networking opportunities with IT company representatives
Graduates receive certification in their chosen specialization upon completion. The program is delivered in cooperation with the Estonian state agency ESTDEV, the city of Tallinn, INSCIENCE, and Zhytomyr Polytechnic University.
This initiative is part of Estonia’s official digital support to Ukraine, aiming to equip Ukrainians with in-demand IT skills for the job market.
