GCC Launches AI-Powered Unified News App to Boost Regional Media Cooperation

The GCC launched an AI-powered unified news app, offering real-time official news from Gulf countries in Arabic and English. This platform promotes media cooperation and regional integration.

GCC Launches AI-Powered Unified News App to Boost Regional Media Integration

The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) has introduced a unified news application on a trial basis, led by the Qatar News Agency (QNA). This initiative, announced at the 28th GCC Ministers of Information meeting in Kuwait, brings official news from Gulf countries into a single platform accessible in both Arabic and English.

By integrating artificial intelligence, the app provides real-time access to a variety of content, including multimedia, live TV and radio streams, and newspaper coverage. It also features an AI-powered virtual assistant to enhance user interaction and accessibility.

Strengthening Media Cooperation Across the Gulf

QNA Director-General Ahmed bin Saeed Al Rumaihi described the app as a key step toward media unity in the Gulf, positioning the region to have a more prominent presence on the global media stage. The platform aligns regional news delivery with new technologies and the evolving expectations of audiences.

GCC Secretary-General Jasem Mohamed AlBudaiwi called the app a “groundbreaking initiative” that reflects the cooperative spirit among member states. He emphasized its role in offering citizens and international audiences reliable, official news in real time.

Regional Leadership and Future Prospects

Kuwait’s Minister of Information and Culture, Abdulrahman Al Mutairi, praised the app as a milestone in harmonizing media strategies across the Gulf. He highlighted the platform’s contribution to innovation and responsiveness to technological change. Al Mutairi also acknowledged Qatar’s leadership in this project and recognized Sheikh Hamad bin Thamer Al Thani, Chairman of the Qatar Media Corporation, for his instrumental role in advancing regional media collaboration.

Currently in its pilot phase, the unified news app represents a move toward a more connected, technology-driven media environment in the GCC. It aims to deliver timely, credible news while fostering a unified voice for the region.
