Getty Images launched a Model Context Protocol (MCP) Server today, giving developers and product teams a standardized way to connect the company's library of licensed creative, editorial, and archival visual content into AI assistants, agentic workflows, and customer-facing AI applications. The move responds to a growing need among organizations building AI tools that require access to trusted, non-AI visual assets without the legal and brand risks associated with unlicensed content.
The server works through a framework supported by major AI platforms, letting AI agents discover, retrieve, and use images and video from Getty Images' collection of news, sport, entertainment, and archival material. It complements Getty Images' existing API offerings by providing an integration path designed specifically for conversational workflows.
