Globant has promoted Fernando Matzkin to Chief Operating Officer, a move designed to accelerate the company's AI-native transformation and its Vision 2030 strategy. Matzkin, who has spent 17 years at the company and most recently served as Chief Revenue Officer, will oversee the evolution of Globant's operational model and client delivery as the company pushes its AI Pods and Glob.AI platform to the center of its services.
The appointment comes as Globant seeks to position itself for what it calls the "AI-native services era." With more than 27,400 employees across 30+ countries, the company works with brands including FIFA, Google, Riot Games, the LA Clippers, and Santander.
What the new COO will oversee
In his new role, Matzkin will be responsible for translating Globant's strategy into execution, raising standards for client delivery, and driving commercial performance across key markets. He previously served as Chief Business Officer for the United States and Europe, where he played a key role in the company's expansion.
His mandate centers on accelerating Globant's AI transformation through its AI Pods - agentic service units supervised by experts - and its Glob.AI platform. The company says these systems can deliver up to 80 percent faster legacy modernization and 2x improvements in time to market.
"Fernando has played a defining role in Globant's growth over the past 17 years, helping us expand our business and build lasting relationships with clients," said MartΓn Migoya, co-founder and CEO of Globant. "His deep understanding of our company, and our industry makes him uniquely positioned to help shape Globant's next chapter. As COO, he will be instrumental in advancing our Vision 2030, strengthening how we operate and execute at scale, and putting Glob.AI and our AI Pods at the center of how we deliver for clients."
Why the COO role matters now
Globant's decision to elevate a revenue-focused executive into the COO seat signals that the company sees AI adoption as a commercial and operational challenge, not just a technical one. Matzkin's background in business expansion and client relationships suggests a focus on converting AI capabilities into measurable client outcomes.
"Globant is entering a defining moment as we build the next generation of AI-native services," said Matzkin. "I'm honored to take on this role and excited to work with our teams to redefine how we operate for this new era. Our goal is to move even faster, more effectively, and be closer than ever to our clients as we help them get ready for what comes next."
For operations leaders, the appointment reflects a broader trend: companies are increasingly putting AI transformation under executives who own revenue and delivery, rather than isolating it in innovation teams. That shift has direct implications for how operations functions are structured and measured. Professionals tracking this transition may find it useful to review AI for Operations resources and the AI Learning Path for Operations Managers to understand how similar changes play out in practice.
Why this matters for operations professionals
The appointment signals that Globant is treating AI-native delivery as an operational discipline with executive ownership. For operations managers, the practical takeaway is that AI transformation efforts increasingly report through COOs and revenue leaders - meaning operational metrics, not just technical milestones, will define success. Expect more organizations to follow this pattern, placing AI execution under executives who answer for delivery quality and commercial performance.
