Google has opened Google Vids to anyone with a standard Google or Workspace account, removing the paywall from its AI-driven video creation tool. The rollout pairs zero-cost access with the company's Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash model and a set of manual controls that let users generate and edit HD video scenes without professional editing skills.
Google Vids now accepts text prompts to produce full 1080p HD clips. Users can extend scenes while keeping visual context, lighting, and character appearance consistent, and set exact clip durations to match a voiceover track. Existing AI-generated clips can also be upscaled to HD to fit smoothly into a timeline. Google frames the tool as a way to "direct every detail to match your creative vision," rather than just prompting for a result.
Controls built for different production needs
The feature set targets a wide range of users. A freelancer launching a product can pick a ready-made template and skip manual timeline work. A local shop owner can photograph new inventory and convert those stills into a short promo. Marketing teams inside larger organizations can produce video for landing pages, social announcements, and digital event signage. Google also previewed a text-to-speech feature arriving soon. Gemini 3.8 Flash-Lite will convert scripts into voiceovers across more than 100 languages. Creators and business owners will be able to generate narration by typing a script, removing the need to record audio separately.
