The Goyang Industrial Promotion Agency is recruiting trainees for a webtoon and web novel writer training program, targeting both aspiring and current creators. The academy, announced on June 17, is part of a government-backed project to equip writers with AI tools for content creation, reflecting the growing role of artificial intelligence in the web content industry.
AI-focused training for creators
The program is part of the '2026 AI-Specialized Content Creator Training Support Project' organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Creative Content Agency. It will concentrate on practical training in planning and producing webtoons and web novels using AI tools, a skill set increasingly covered in AI for Writers Courses.
A source from the agency said the city and its promotion agency are running multiple educational projects to discover high-value web content IP and nurture creative talent.
Building an IP cluster in Goyang
The source added, "Goyang Special Self-Governing City and the Goyang Industrial Promotion Agency are promoting various educational projects to discover high-value web content IPs such as webtoons and web novels and nurture outstanding creative talent. Additionally, through the creation of an 'IP Convergence Content Cluster,' we plan to continuously foster Goyang City's specialized web content industry."
Why this matters for writers
For writers looking to enter or advance in the webtoon and web novel markets, this program offers direct, government-supported training on AI tools that are reshaping how stories are planned and produced. The focus on practical production skills means participants can build portfolio-ready work while learning to integrate AI into their creative process, a combination that's increasingly in demand as publishers and platforms seek tech-savvy creators.
