Hanwha Life Charts AI-Driven Growth, Targets Global Expansion
Hanwha Group Chairman Kim Seung-youn said the financial division is pursuing "bold challenges to lead the global financial market through an AI-based industrial transformation." He delivered the message at Hanwha Life Financial Services' annual awards ceremony on Saturday at KINTEX in Ilsan.
The company recognized about 1,600 planners and sales managers for their performance. Kim said these employees "are the true heroes and pride of Hanwha Life" as the company pursues its goal to become a leading global insurer.
Revenue Growth Accelerates
Hanwha Life Financial Services has grown substantially since launching in April 2021 as the first major insurer to separate product development from sales operations. Revenue jumped 7.4-fold from 328 billion won in its first year to 2.4397 trillion won last year.
Net profit reached 115.8 billion won last year, exceeding 100 billion won for the second consecutive year. The company now employs approximately 35,000 planners and is approaching 40,000.
What Planners Say
Kang Hee-jung, an honorary vice president and planner at the Ilwang branch who won the Achievement Champion award, said the work extends beyond sales metrics. "A single contract is not merely a sales record but a promise to take responsibility for a customer's life and future together," she said.
The awards ceremony highlighted how the company's organizational structure-separating product development from sales-has created distinct career paths and accountability for individual planners.
For insurance professionals, understanding generative AI and LLM applications is becoming essential as companies like Hanwha implement these technologies across operations.
