HDI Global deploys mea's AI platform across underwriting and claims operations
HDI Global, the Germany-based insurer operating in more than 200 countries, has partnered with mea Platform to standardize how it processes underwriting and claims data across its global operations. The deployment will handle broker submissions, mid-term amendments, first notice of loss documents, and supporting claims information.
The partnership addresses a core operational challenge: HDI processes large volumes of structured and unstructured insurance data daily. Standardizing how teams ingest and classify that information should allow underwriting and claims staff to make faster, more informed decisions.
How the technology works
mea's platform uses a proprietary insurance domain language model and Insurance Industry Knowledge Graph to interpret, extract, and route data. The system integrates with existing carrier systems without requiring major infrastructure overhauls.
The deployment creates a standardized input management layer across HDI's global operations while allowing regional teams to continue working within local systems and processes.
Human control remains central
HDI frames the rollout as part of its "Human Driven - AI Powered" strategy. The goal is to reduce repetitive administrative work while keeping underwriting and claims decisions under human control.
Jens Hillmer, HDI Global's global head of business operations and transformation, said the partnership will help teams "spend more time on risk assessment, advice and service" rather than data entry and classification.
Max Richter, mea's EMEA CEO, described HDI as "one of the most respected Corporate & Specialty insurers in the world, operating at a scale and level of complexity that only a handful of organisations can match."
Scale of deployment
mea currently processes more than $400 billion in gross written premium across international insurance markets through its platform. HDI Global is part of the Talanx Group, a major European insurer.
