A workshop in Astana trained government press secretaries to use AI for clearer, more transparent communication with the public. Participants learned to create content and analyze sentiment efficiently.

How to Use AI to Improve Communication Between Government Agencies and the Public
A practical three-day workshop titled “Artificial Intelligence for Effective Communication with the Public” was held in Astana for press secretaries of central government and local executive bodies. The event focused on how AI technologies can improve the efficiency, transparency, and accessibility of communication between government and citizens.
Alikhan Baimenov, Chair of the Steering Committee of the Astana Civil Service Hub, opened the workshop by stressing the crucial role of government press offices in clarifying public policy. He highlighted the need for press secretaries to adopt modern digital tools like AI to better serve their audiences.
Hands-On AI Training for Press Secretaries
Participants gained practical experience using AI to generate text and video content, analyze public sentiment, and automate routine communication tasks. Georgian experts Ani Sirbiladze and Irakli Gvinianidze introduced straightforward, effective AI tools that help press services quickly produce press releases, create informative videos, and design visual content for social media.
This knowledge equips government communicators to make their messaging more accessible, transparent, and easier for citizens to understand. The workshop also covered international case studies and showcased major AI-powered platforms relevant to public sector communications.
Ethics, Security, and Collaboration
Special attention was given to the ethical and legal considerations of using AI, as well as safeguarding government information when employing these technologies. The seminar also provided a space for press officers from various government levels to network and exchange best practices.
After the workshop, participants will receive a digital guide featuring an international overview of AI trends and practical recommendations for applying AI in government communication.
