HPE raises revenue forecast on record AI server and networking sales

Hewlett Packard Enterprise lifted its fiscal 2026 revenue growth forecast to a range of 34% to 37%, up from a previous 29% to 33%, after reporting record quarterly sales of $12.2 billion. The jump reflects surging orders for AI servers and networking gear, a demand wave that directly shapes the pipeline for technology sales teams.

Third-quarter revenue climbed 34% from a year earlier, beating the consensus analyst estimate. HPE also raised its full-year adjusted earnings per share forecast to between $3.75 and $3.85, up from a prior range of $3.35 to $3.45. Despite the increases, the stock fell more than 5% in extended trading - investors had priced in even stronger results, according to Bloomberg.

The numbers behind the surge

Server revenue rose 35% to $6.8 billion in the quarter. Networking revenue jumped 75% to $2.9 billion, with data center networking more than doubling and routing revenue surging 270%. These are not marginal gains. They represent the largest infrastructure buildout cycle many sales professionals will see in their careers.

Chief Financial Officer Marie Myers told Reuters that memory tops the list of constrained components, with NAND, CPUs, and drives also creating shortfalls. "Demand is far outstripping supply," Myers said. The company has entered into extended supply agreements to secure access to critical parts. Inventory stood at $11.82 billion as of late July, compared with $7.16 billion a year earlier - a buildup Myers attributed to rising commodity prices and deliberate buying decisions tied to an expanding order book and backlog.

Deals that signal where the market is heading

Chief Executive Officer Antonio Neri said on a conference call that HPE is working with partners to secure additional multiyear supply agreements. After the quarter closed, HPE signed a $3.5 billion agreement with a major cloud provider to supply servers for that company's own AI model workloads. Neri would not identify the customer.

HPE also announced an expanded partnership to deploy HPE Juniper networking equipment across Oracle's AI data centers. Under that agreement, HPE granted Oracle warrants to acquire HPE shares. For sales professionals watching the AI for Sales landscape, these deal structures signal how large enterprise contracts are increasingly tied to equity and long-term supply commitments rather than simple transactional purchases.

Forward outlook and capital returns

For fiscal 2027, HPE raised its revenue growth outlook to 13% to 17%, up from a prior range of 8% to 12%, and projected adjusted EPS growth of 16% to 20%, compared with a previous range of 12% to 16%. Non-GAAP diluted EPS for the third quarter came in at $1.11. The order backlog hit a record level, and the company plans to return at least 75% of free cash flow to shareholders in the fourth quarter.

Why this matters for sales professionals

HPE's results confirm that enterprise AI infrastructure spending is accelerating, not plateauing. For sales teams, this means customer conversations are shifting from "should we invest in AI" to "how do we secure capacity before our competitors do." The supply constraints Myers described - memory, NAND, CPUs - mean that sales cycles now hinge on availability timelines as much as pricing. Understanding the supply landscape and positioning solutions around guaranteed delivery windows will separate top performers from the rest.
