Huawei ICT Competition 2024-2025 Global Final Wraps Up: AI Drives Education and ICT Talent Growth
The Closing & Awards Ceremony of the Huawei ICT Competition 2024–2025 Global Final took place in Shenzhen, marking the 9th edition of this influential event. This year, it achieved a new milestone by involving over 210,000 students and instructors from more than 2,000 colleges and universities across 100+ countries and regions. After national and regional contests, 179 teams from 48 countries advanced to the Global Final.
Competition Tracks and Winners
Participants competed in three main tracks: Practice, Innovation, and Programming. Eighteen teams from nine countries earned top honors, including China, Algeria, Brazil, Philippines, Morocco, Nigeria, Serbia, Tanzania, and Singapore.
- Innovation Competition Grand Prize: Bulacan State University (Philippines), Beijing University of Technology (China), Faculty of Technical Sciences Čačak of the University of Kragujevac (Serbia), and Faculty of Sciences and Techniques of Errachidia - Moulay Ismail University (Morocco).
- Practice Competition – Network Track Grand Prize: Shenzhen Institute of Information Technology (China), Instituto Federal do Tocantins (Brazil), Federal University of Technology Minna (Nigeria), and a joint team from Dar es Salaam Institute of Technology, University of Dar es Salaam, and University of Dodoma (Tanzania).
- Practice Competition – Cloud Track Grand Prize: iACADEMY (Philippines), University of Batna 2 and Higher National School of Computer Science Algiers (Algeria), Tianjin University of Technology and Education (China), and Singapore University of Social Sciences.
- Practice Competition – Computing Track Grand Prize: Guilin University of Electronic Technology (China), Federal University of Technology Minna (Nigeria), University of Bejaia and Higher National School of Computer Science SBA (Algeria), and Cebu Institute of Technology - University (Philippines).
- Programming Competition Grand Prize: Shenzhen Polytechnic University (China).
Special Recognition Awards
Beyond technical achievements, the competition honored teams and instructors for their unique contributions:
- Women in Tech Award: Four all-female teams from Brazil, Saudi Arabia, Germany, and Kenya.
- Green Development Award: A team from Ghana.
- Most Valuable Instructor Award: 18 instructors from 10 countries, including China, Algeria, Bangladesh, Brazil, Egypt, Indonesia, Iraq, Nigeria, Hungary, and Türkiye, recognized for their commitment to ICT education.

Ritchie Peng, Director of the ICT Strategy & Business Development Department at Huawei, emphasized the competition’s evolving design to foster learning and innovation. The Practice Competition encourages mastery of cloud computing, big data, and AI to support social progress aligned with the Intelligent World 2030 vision. The Innovation Competition tackles real-world issues in sectors like agriculture, healthcare, and education, focusing on green development and digital inclusion.
