IHC is launching an AI-powered reinsurance platform in Abu Dhabi to enhance underwriting and support growth across the Gulf. Partners include BlackRock and Lunate, covering P&C, Life, and specialized insurance.

IHC Launches AI-Driven Reinsurance Platform in the Gulf
Investment company IHC is preparing to introduce a new AI-powered reinsurance platform based in the Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM). This platform, currently unnamed, will enhance underwriting capabilities using artificial intelligence to accelerate growth across the Gulf region and support the evolution of regional capital markets.
Key partners include BlackRock, which will contribute insurance asset management, advisory services, and its Aladdin technology. Lunate will also collaborate, bringing expertise in private and public markets along with global multi-asset investment experience. The platform will cover Property and Casualty (P&C), Life, and specialised insurance products.
Focus on AI-Driven Underwriting and Market Adaptability
Operating from ADGM, IHC plans to serve key international markets while maintaining a strategic emphasis on the Middle East and Asia. The platform will be AI-native, free from legacy systems, improving data analytics, pricing accuracy, and operational efficiency. This technological foundation is expected to speed up risk assessments and optimise capital efficiency.
Syed Basar Shueb, CEO of IHC, highlighted the company’s commitment to innovation and growth. The initiative aims to reshape the insurance landscape in the region, delivering sustainable value to stakeholders and supporting economic development.
Strategic Partnerships and Leadership
Following the signing of key agreements, BlackRock will take a minority stake in the venture. Larry Fink, chairman and CEO of BlackRock, expressed enthusiasm about working with IHC and Lunate to develop a more dynamic insurance and financial ecosystem in Abu Dhabi and beyond.
Dr Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, GCEO and MD of ADNOC, will chair the company. Industry veteran Mark Wilson, former CEO of Aviva Plc and AIA Group, will lead the platform, bringing extensive sector experience.
Al Jaber emphasized the platform's role in connecting global capital with regional opportunities. He noted that the combination of strong capital backing, AI-driven underwriting, and ADGM's regulatory framework positions the company for efficient and precise insurance operations in a growing market.
