IISER Tirupati opens admissions for one-year master's programmes in data science and biology
IISER Tirupati is accepting applications for two one-year professional master's programmes starting in 2026-2027: Biological Data Science (BioDS) and Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (DS-AI). Both programmes operate online and target working professionals and recent graduates seeking industry-relevant skills.
The institute, designated as an Institute of National Importance under India's Ministry of Education, launched these programmes in 2024. They combine theoretical instruction with hands-on projects using real datasets and access to computational facilities.
Programme focus areas
Biological Data Science prepares candidates for roles in genomics, pharmaceutical research, biotechnology, and AI-driven life sciences. Graduates typically work as researchers and scientists in these sectors.
Data Science and Artificial Intelligence covers machine learning, data analytics, natural language processing, and computational problem-solving. Graduates pursue positions as data analysts, machine learning engineers, and NLP specialists across industries.
Both programmes emphasise applied learning. The institute provides access to seminars, workshops, and interactions with research organisations and industry partners.
Who can apply
Applicants must hold a four-year undergraduate degree in science, technology, computer applications, or architecture with a minimum 60 per cent aggregate or 6.0 CGPA. Postgraduate degree holders in science or technology fields are eligible with 55 per cent aggregate or 5.5 CGPA.
The institute accepts candidates from both industry and academic backgrounds. Applications are submitted through the official admissions portal with supporting documents.
