Government Opens 15,000 AI Scholarships for Creative Professionals
The Indian government is offering 15,000 free scholarships to build AI skills among workers in media, entertainment, animation, gaming, and digital storytelling. The Ministry of Information & Broadcasting announced the initiative on May 10, developed with the Indian Institute of Creative Technologies, Google, and YouTube. Enrollment is open now.
The program runs in two phases. The first phase covers foundational AI training through Google Career Certificates and Google Cloud's generative AI learning paths - about 33 hours of online work covering AI fundamentals, prompting techniques, and responsible AI practices.
Participants who complete the foundation phase move into a hybrid specialization phase focused on real-world application. This stage includes project-based learning in storytelling, creative production, and hands-on work with advanced AI tools.
What the Curriculum Covers
The foundation phase teaches core AI literacy at scale. Learners study generative AI fundamentals, how to write effective prompts, and ethical considerations in AI use.
The specialization phase shifts to practical work. Participants build projects in content creation and production while learning platform best practices from YouTube to increase content reach and engagement.
Dr. Vishwas Deoskar, CEO of IICT, said the initiative addresses a clear need: preparing creative professionals to apply AI in real work across content creation, production, and distribution.
Who Should Apply
The scholarships target emerging talent already working in or entering creative fields. Google's Career Certificates program, which forms the foundation phase, connects participants with employers and provides professional training designed by Google.
