Indosat and the Wadhwani Foundation offer AI training via popular apps to equip Indonesian youth with digital skills. This initiative supports job readiness and entrepreneurship nationwide.

Indosat and Wadhwani Launch AI Training for Indonesian Youth
Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison and the Wadhwani Foundation have partnered to offer AI-based training aimed at helping Indonesian youth prepare for the workforce. The training is accessible through Indosat's myIM3 app and Tri's bima+ app, turning these popular platforms into practical tools for skill development that meet current industry demands.
This initiative targets both urban and rural areas, ensuring young Indonesians across the country have equal access to digital skills development. The move responds to Indonesia’s pressing employment challenge, where over 7.4 million job seekers are actively looking for opportunities.
Meeting Workforce Needs with Practical Skills
The training modules focus on soft skills, job readiness, and the use of AI-powered tools. They are designed to benefit job seekers, entrepreneurs, and young professionals aiming to stay competitive in a tight labor market. By integrating these features within their apps, Indosat extends the value of its digital ecosystem beyond basic telecommunication services.
- IM3 integrates the training into its Collabonation programme.
- Tri includes the training in its Generasi Happy initiative.
These efforts encourage active participation and engagement among young users, promoting continuous learning and development.
Supporting Education and Entrepreneurship
Beyond mobile app training, the collaboration also strengthens ties with universities and secondary schools in Indonesia. This partnership supports students in acquiring digital competencies that are crucial for employment readiness.
The Wadhwani Foundation brings two prominent programs to this effort: JobRise and JobReady. Both are free, AI-powered upskilling initiatives available in English and Bahasa Indonesia. They emphasize soft skills, facilitator support, simulations, and opportunities for in-person collaboration.
Additionally, the Foundation’s Wadhwani Entrepreneurship Network (WEN) offers guidance for young entrepreneurs, helping them develop and grow their businesses.
Leadership Perspectives
Vikram Sinha, CEO of Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison, stated, “The youth are key to building an inclusive and sustainable future. We believe no one should be left behind. This initiative underlines our commitment to developing digital skills across Indonesia.”
Ajay Kela, CEO of the Wadhwani Foundation, added, “Our mission since 2001 has been to accelerate job growth and enable millions to earn family-sustaining wages. Partnering with Indosat allows us to reach millions directly and offer accessible, effective learning.”
Aligning with Indonesia’s Vision 2045
This initiative supports Indonesia’s national policies, including the third pillar of Asta Cita, which focuses on quality job creation and entrepreneurship. It contributes to the broader goals outlined in Indonesia Vision 2045, aimed at fostering economic growth and technological readiness.
For IT and development professionals, this partnership highlights how telecommunications and non-profit sectors collaborate to build workforce capabilities using AI-driven tools. It’s a practical example of leveraging existing digital platforms to deliver impactful education and training.
