Israeli fintech Chargeflow uses AI to automate e-commerce chargeback recovery and post-payment risk management

Chargeflow, an Israeli fintech startup, is using artificial intelligence to automate the resolution of credit card chargebacks and payment disputes for e-commerce merchants. With global payment disputes costing retailers an estimated $316 billion annually, the platform offers a hands-off way for businesses to recover lost revenue and reduce fraud exposure.

Tackling a growing financial drain

Ben Herut, Chargeflow's chief of staff and VP of payments risk, pointed to the scale of the problem. "The issue is $316 billion annually and it's growing 30% year over year," he said. When merchants accept credit cards, they assume the financial risk of fraud and disputes, a burden the company intends to remove.

The platform uses AI-driven workflows trained on millions of internal data points to automate the dispute process. By gathering information across thousands of merchants, the system builds customized representment strategies to contest chargebacks with card networks and banks. This practical application of AI for Finance allows businesses to shift focus from manual loss prevention to core growth.

Automated, results-based dispute handling

Founded in 2021 by Ariel Chen and Avia Chen, the company operates as a fully hands-free solution. It handles system integrations, data collection and dispute submissions automatically. "We only charge if we win," Herut said. "Our revenue is based on the customer's success."

Chargeflow has scaled internationally, opening a New York office and serving merchants in nearly 90 countries. The technology helps business leaders eliminate the operational drag of manual dispute handling. By deploying this type of AI for Management, executives can redirect operational resources toward revenue generation rather than administrative firefighting.

Why this matters for management

E-commerce leaders face compounding risks as transaction volumes increase globally. Adopting an automated, success-based system for chargeback recovery protects margins without adding headcount to risk or finance teams. It provides a clear metric for return on investment by tying vendor fees directly to recovered revenue.
