Jeff Yoshimura, co-founder and chief growth officer at AnyTeam, launched The Selling Economy on September 17, a weekly podcast that examines how artificial intelligence is rewiring the economics of B2B sales organizations. The show arrives as revenue leaders face rising costs of sale, longer rep ramp times, and buyers who show up to conversations already informed - shifts that are forcing a rethink of the traditional sales playbook.
Yoshimura, known as "Yosh" and a veteran of three IPOs at Salesforce, Zuora, and Elastic, hosts candid conversations with go-to-market leaders, founders, and sales operators. The podcast does not treat AI as a future concept. It treats it as a force already inside the seller's workflow, changing what reps do and what organizations expect from them.
A roster built from the front lines
The first episode features Joe Williams, one of Salesforce's earliest and most successful enterprise sales leaders. Williams spent more than 12 years closing and managing strategic accounts when the company was still fighting for credibility. His take on AI is blunt: it removes the non-selling work that clogs a rep's day.
"Some of my biggest deals at Salesforce didn't close on features. They closed because the buyer trusted me enough to put their own reputation on the line," Williams said. "AI is taking the non-selling work off the rep's plate, giving them more room to focus on the conversation, the relationship, and the trust that actually wins the deal. AI didn't make the rep replaceable. It made the rep the part that matters most."
Other guests scheduled for upcoming episodes include Kristin "KK" Anderson, who has diagnosed more than 15,000 sales professionals through her work at Accelerant Growth Solutions, and Sheevaun Thatcher, who built a 150-person sales enablement team at RingCentral before joining Demandbase as VP of Revenue Enablement. Bryan Breckenridge, an early pre-IPO Salesforce account executive, and Paul Melchiorre, co-author of Selling the Cloud and former CRO at Anaplan, will also appear. The lineup extends to Kelly Miller, CRO at Nitor Partners and former SVP of North America Sales at SAP, and Scott Edmonds, employee number 10 at Marketo who later led the company's expansion into EMEA and Asia-Pacific.
What the show actually examines
Episodes dig into specific mechanics: the changing role of the account executive, the future of CRM, founder-led sales in an AI-driven market, and the economics of sales-led growth. The framing is practical. Yoshimura said the systems around revenue leaders were built for a different era, and the podcast is an attempt to understand what the current shift demands.
Anderson framed the problem in operational terms. "Most teams think they have an activity problem. They actually have a memory and execution problem: remembering the details, commitments, context, and follow-ups that keep deals moving," she said. "This show is where revenue leaders can separate the tools that actually move the number from the ones that just create more motion."
Why this matters for sales professionals
Sales leaders who treat AI as a lead-scoring add-on are missing the structural change. The economics are shifting - cost of sale is rising, ramp times are lengthening, and buyers are doing their own research long before a rep enters the conversation. The Selling Economy gives practitioners a direct line to operators who have already navigated these dynamics at scale, from Salesforce's earliest enterprise deals to Marketo's international expansion. For reps and CROs alike, the show offers a weekly signal on what is breaking and what is being rebuilt, straight from the people doing the rebuilding.
New episodes release weekly on Apple Podcasts and Spotify. Professionals exploring how to apply these shifts in their own organizations can find structured training through the AI Learning Path for VP of Sales, which maps to the strategic questions Yoshimura and his guests tackle each week.
