Lectra launched Apogy on Wednesday, an agentic AI solution for fashion product development that moves the company beyond its legacy in pattern-making. The Paris-based technology firm, whose Modaris CAD software helped design an estimated one-third of the world's clothing since 1984, now aims to unify the entire development cycle on a single cloud platform.
Apogy covers every step from ideation to an industrialization-ready prototype. It acts as a shared ecosystem where teams work simultaneously, with the system recording each change and its author. The platform also streamlines digital prototyping and speeds up approvals through 3D simulations and photorealistic renderings.
Breaking down silos across the supply chain
"For fifty years, Lectra has helped transform the fashion industry, particularly by digitizing pattern-making," said Maximilien Abadie, Lectra's deputy CEO. "Today, agentic artificial intelligence gives us the opportunity to take a new step forward and reinvent product development as a whole."
Abadie described Apogy as the first solution designed to bring together all parties, data, and processes that shape a product. "By breaking down silos and streamlining interactions across the entire ecosystem, we enable fashion companies to develop desirable, manufacturable products that meet consumer demand more quickly," he said.
Early adopters report fewer errors and faster workflows
David Towell, senior manager at Irish sportswear brand O'Neills, said the unified approach eliminates errors tied to data transfers. "For the first time in our history, all our teams are using a single solution," Towell said. "This harmonization eliminates errors linked to data transfers, increases transparency and now enables us to accelerate operations, improve productivity and effectively support our growth."
Oniverse, the international fashion group behind Calzedonia and Intimissimi, pointed to talent retention as a key benefit. Ricardo Romani, operations director at Oniverse, said new generations expect to work with advanced tools. "By equipping our teams with Apogy, a solution designed natively for the AI era and featuring advanced capabilities, we are strengthening our ability to attract, develop and retain the next generation of talent in product development roles, particularly in modelling within the Oniverse group," Romani said.
A platform built to evolve
Lectra said Apogy's agentic AI will expand over time, adding capabilities and automating more tasks. The launch comes as fashion companies face pressure to shorten development cycles while managing increasingly complex supply chains.
"Apogy ushers in a new era of product development, where artificial intelligence turns product data into a competitive advantage for fashion players," Abadie said. The company views the platform as a logical extension of its decades spent digitizing fashion processes, now applied to the broader AI for Product Development workflow rather than a single function like pattern-making.
Why this matters for product development professionals
Apogy signals a shift in how fashion brands structure their development teams. When a single platform records every change across ideation, prototyping, and approval, the role of the product developer changes: less time chasing version histories and reconciling file formats, more time on decisions that affect fit, cost, and manufacturability. For teams evaluating whether to adopt agentic AI tools, the early customer feedback points to concrete gains in speed and error reduction, not just automation for its own sake.
