LinkedIn launches AI-powered subscription bundle for small businesses

LinkedIn has launched Premium All-in-One, a unified subscription product that bundles sales, marketing and hiring tools for small and medium businesses. The product, built by engineering teams across multiple LinkedIn business lines, uses large language models to help new subscribers generate target audiences, find prospects and build their brand without needing an existing history of platform activity.

The company reported that since becoming generally available, Premium All-in-One has become its largest new subscription product. Subscribers saw a 57 per cent increase in monthly followers, a 40 per cent increase in profile views, a 29 per cent increase in monthly connections and a 24 per cent increase in messages receiving a response.

Built for a growing founder community

LinkedIn observed a 60 per cent increase in global members adding "founder" to their profiles, which the engineering team used to justify building a product tailored to small business operators. Early engagement with that community surfaced a consistent theme: small business owners wanted something simple that did not require significant time or expertise to help them sell, market and hire. They were also looking for ways to find new clients, increase brand visibility and search for the right people to bring onto their teams.

LinkedIn already offered tools for each of those functions, but they were spread across multiple products, each built for different workflows and customer segments. Consolidating them exposed inconsistencies across LinkedIn's existing surfaces, including supported currencies, credit ledger management, revenue recognition, access provisioning and how relevance was defined.

LLMs power prospect and content recommendations

At the core of Premium All-in-One is what LinkedIn calls the Target Audience definition - a graph representation of who a small business leader wants to reach. For subscribers with an existing engagement history, the system draws on activity-based signals such as profiles viewed, connections made and messages sent. Each activity type carries a distinct weight, with an exponential time-decay factor applied over a rolling window.

For new subscribers without that history, LinkedIn uses an LLM-based approach. The model takes a member's profile, company information and products or services as inputs, then selects relevant values from LinkedIn's existing taxonomy categories rather than generating free-form outputs. The engineering team said all model inputs and outputs are scoped to individual members, respect member preferences and are never shared or cross-trained across subscribers.

The system generates a curated list of 15 prospect suggestions each day, designed to reduce the time small business leaders spend manually searching for potential customers. A separate feature identifies posts on LinkedIn receiving engagement from a subscriber's Target Audience, allowing small business leaders to comment on or reshare content to build visibility with potential customers.

Premium All-in-One also includes a profile writing assistant that uses an LLM to generate profile enhancements based on a member's experience and company details. A recommendation model surfaces suggested actions on the Premium dashboard, and a calibration layer enforces cool-off periods for completed tasks.

For marketers focused on social media strategy and practical AI tools, LinkedIn's approach to LLM-powered audience targeting offers a concrete look at where platforms are heading. A subscription that automates audience definition, prospect recommendations and content engagement signals could meaningfully shift how small teams allocate their time between strategy and manual outreach. The engineering team's decision to use LLMs to generate target audiences for users without an activity history also points to where AI for Marketing is heading: intelligent systems that start delivering value from day one.

LinkedIn's engineering team noted that early user testing shaped the final product. They put the tool in front of real users four months into development, inviting a small business group to hands-on sessions. Feedback from those sessions directly informed product and engineering decisions.

The team adjusted the prompt for profile customisation to feature small businesses more prominently, invested in an LLM-based trending posts feature and added an opt-out flow for the follower invitation feature during onboarding. Each rollout phase was gated by quality and reliability criteria, allowing the team to address issues before scaling further.

Why this matters for marketing professionals

For marketers, this release signals a shift in how AI tools are being sold and packaged. Instead of offering AI-powered point solutions for individual tasks, LinkedIn and other platforms are now bundling audience targeting, content engagement and prospect discovery into a single subscription for small teams. Marketing professionals who rely on LinkedIn for lead generation or brand visibility should watch closely. The platform's daily prospect suggestions that refresh overnight will change how sales and marketing teams at small companies allocate their time between manual research and automated outreach. That could also mean more competition for attention from small business owners, and marketing objectives should incorporate ways to stand out in a LinkedIn feed where competitors are now actively posting content tailored to your same target audiences.
