Meta expands paid subscriptions to include AI and marketing tools for businesses and creators

Meta is putting more of its marketing, analytics, and AI tools behind paid subscriptions, rolling out new Meta One plans for businesses and creators across Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp. The move shifts the platforms from audience channels toward an operating layer where businesses can manage publishing, customer engagement, and performance optimization under a single paid tier - while the core apps remain free.

The centerpiece of the business offering is Meta Business Agent, an AI-powered tool that responds to customers on a business's behalf. Meta said the agent handles interactions around the clock, aiming to capture leads and drive sales without requiring a human to monitor every message. The company plans to expand agent capabilities across marketing, business operations, content creation, and optimization over time.

What's inside the business tiers

Meta's business subscriptions are split into four levels: Essential, Advanced, Expert, and Max. Advanced and above unlock scheduling Stories up to 30 days in advance, adding links to organic posts and Reels, exporting analytics, and accessing deeper audience insights. Higher tiers also grant increased access to Meta Business Agent. Teams can access accounts without sharing passwords, addressing a long-standing friction for agencies and in-house marketing groups.

In Singapore, business and creator plans start at SG$17.99 monthly, with top tiers reaching SG$469. Individual subscriptions begin at SG$1.99 a month. Meta said more than 50 features have been introduced across its subscription plans so far, with 15 million subscriptions and trials recorded.

Creator tools shift beyond content generation

For creators, an upcoming Edits Plus plan will bundle additional AI credits, cloud storage, and an AI assistant that draws on Instagram insights to analyze performance and brainstorm content. The assistant isn't just generating posts - it's meant to help creators decide what to make and how to optimize it, reflecting a broader role for AI within Meta's platforms.

This builds on earlier moves from Meta. The company previously allowed businesses to connect Meta AI with advertising and account analytics, enabling the assistant to analyze campaign performance, spot patterns in high-performing creative and audiences, and suggest budget or content changes. It also expanded access to organic Facebook and Instagram performance data, letting businesses query metrics like reach, shares, saves, and profile visits, and set up recurring performance reports.

A subscription umbrella across apps

Meta began rolling out paid subscriptions across Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp in May, while testing the broader Meta One umbrella for individual users, creators, businesses, and Meta AI users. The company stressed that its core apps and Meta AI remain free, with subscriptions aimed at users who want additional capabilities - particularly around AI for Marketing and AI Social Media Courses.

"Meta is expanding its subscription model beyond consumer perks, putting more advanced marketing, analytics, AI and customer-service capabilities behind paid tiers," the company said, describing the shift as a broader push to turn its platforms into an operating layer for businesses rather than simply channels for reaching audiences.

Why this matters for marketing professionals

Meta is packaging AI agents, analytics, and publishing tools into paid plans that replace or supplement functions many marketing teams currently handle through separate tools or manual workflows. The 24/7 customer-response agent, exportable analytics, and password-free team access directly address operational pain points. For marketers managing Meta campaigns, the subscription tiers create a new cost line to evaluate against existing martech stacks - and a new set of AI capabilities that could change how teams allocate time across content creation, audience analysis, and customer engagement.
