Meta updates artificial intelligence image generation tools for advertisers with Muse Image model

Meta has updated its AI-powered image generator for advertisers with a new model called Muse Image, developed by its Superintelligence Labs. Announced July 7, 2026, the tool can interpret complex creative briefs and produce high-quality ad variations with fewer iterations, changing how creative teams produce content for Facebook and Instagram.

How Muse Image handles creative briefs

Meta said Muse Image uses agentic visual reasoning and self-refinement to approach creative direction like a designer, not just a keyword matcher. "Muse Image is built with agentic visual reasoning and self-refinement, meaning it understands complex creative briefs the way a designer would - not just individual keywords," the company explained. "Muse Image brings native reasoning to the creative process to adjust elements, swap styles, and create variations based on the advertiser's creative, resulting in high-quality, on-brand ad variations with fewer iterations."

New capabilities for ad creation

The updated tools let marketers restyle ad images based on existing ads and generate still images from video assets. Meta also introduced a feature that reimagines a shopper's room: when someone uploads a photo of their space, Meta AI restyles it with real products from a brand's catalog, showing how items look in the actual room. Users can compare options, refine the look, and tap through to shop on the brand's website.

Early results and adoption

Advertisers who have used Meta's generative AI tools to create multiple ad variations have seen strong results, according to the company. Early testers of Muse Image reported higher-quality creative outputs, including better photorealism and the ability to keep product details intact. More than 8 million advertisers already use at least one of Meta's generative AI ad creative tools.

Why this matters for Creatives

For designers and art directors, Muse Image reduces the manual work of creating ad variations while preserving brand consistency. The model's ability to interpret creative briefs in plain language means less time spent on repetitive iterations. As AI image tools become part of the advertising workflow, understanding how to work with them becomes a practical skill.
